Client: Highland Council Services: Contract Administration, Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineering CDMM were appointed by Highland Council as Contract Administrators and Mechanical & Electrical Design Engineers for the major refurbishment of Inverness Leisure Centre. The project involved a comprehensive upgrade of the facility’s building services infrastructure, including full replacement of heating plant and distribution systems, combined heat and power (CHP) installation, pool water treatment systems, ventilation, electrical power, lighting, fire alarm systems, and lightning protection. The refurbishment covered all key areas of the centre, including wet-side facilities, dry-side areas, gym spaces, climbing wall, and the external running track. A key challenge of the project was the requirement to maintain partial operation of the leisure centre throughout the works. CDMM worked closely with the design team, contractor, and facility operators to develop a carefully phased programme, ensuring minimal disruption to users while maintaining safety, functionality, and service continuity. Through detailed planning, coordinated design, and proactive stakeholder engagement, the project was successfully delivered within a live operational environment, significantly enhancing the performance and reliability of the facility’s building services.
