  • Working with established global brands and smaller independent producers

  • Achieving safe, efficient, and future-ready production environments

Based in the heart of Scotland’s whisky country, CDMM has extensive experience of delivering Mechanical, Electrical and Low Carbon consultancy services across the distilling and brewing sectors. Clients include Tomatin Distillery, The Glendronach, Muir of Ord Distillery, Glen Grant, Gordon & MacPhail, Black Isle Brewery, BrewDog, and numerous micro-distilleries. Our portfolio spans traditional malt whisky distilleries, modern production facilities, and craft breweries, supporting both established global brands and smaller independent producers. Projects range from heritage facility upgrades to new-build production and visitor experience developments. CDMM has in-depth understanding of the unique operational, environmental, and process-driven requirements associated with alcohol production facilities, whether carefully managing internal environmental conditions for both process efficiency and staff comfort, or giving strict attention to safety-critical design considerations. A key aspect of our work is the integration of process engineering requirements with building services design, ensuring that mechanical and electrical systems support production needs, while maintaining efficiency, resilience, and compliance. We regularly work with DSEAR (Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations) assessments to inform safe system design, ensuring appropriate zoning, ventilation strategies, and risk mitigation measures are embedded within the building services solution. In addition, CDMM has delivered low-carbon solutions across the sector, including the incorporation of technologies such as combined heat and power (CHP) systems and other energy-efficient plant strategies to reduce operational carbon and improve energy performance. Through a practical and collaborative approach, CDMM supports distillery and brewery clients in achieving safe, efficient, and future-ready production environments that respect both heritage and modern manufacturing demands.
