Services: Mechanical, Electrical & Low Carbon Consultancy CDMM were appointed as Mechanical, Electrical and Low Carbon Consultants for the redevelopment of Lundie’s Hotel, delivering a sensitive transformation of a heritage building into a high-quality hospitality destination. A key focus of the project was the careful integration of modern building services within a historic fabric. CDMM developed discreet, fully coordinated M&E solutions that preserved the character of the building while delivering the performance expected of a contemporary hotel environment. Working closely with an international interior design team, CDMM ensured seamless coordination between architectural vision and building services, aligning technical requirements with a high-end aesthetic. To meet ambitious energy targets, CDMM undertook detailed energy appraisals and developed a low-carbon heating strategy centred around a ground source heat pump (GSHP) system. The design maximised the number of boreholes achievable within site constraints, with an LPG boiler incorporated to provide supplementary capacity and resilience. The project also presented unique site challenges relating to water quality. CDMM coordinated specialist laboratory testing and analysis, using the findings to inform system specifications to ensure long term performance and reliability. Through a proactive and collaborative approach, CDMM delivered innovative, practical solutions balancing heritage sensitivity, energy performance, and technical complexity to support the successful delivery of a distinctive hotel development.
